During the 2024 Legislative Session, Florida Rising called on our legislators to support policies that put people over profit, that advance racial and economic justice, and to stand against divisive bills that prevent Floridians from living full and free lives.

We tracked votes on the bills listed below to determine which legislators were champions consistently voting for justice on every Block,  who were supporters, and who were bullies attacking the rights of working people in our state, Floridians of color, and LGBTQIA+ Floridians.

Our Champions are legislators who consistently and unapologetically put the needs of historically marginalized communities first. 

Our Supporters have sponsored bills that support our communities and have spoken out in defense of our communities; however, their voting record can improve on several of the bills we tracked. If their voting record showed that they could improve their position on more than half of the bills tracked within an issue area, the round-up illustrates the area(s) for improvement. 

Bullies are legislators who actively attack and dehumanize historically marginalized communities and use legislation as a weapon to perpetuate racial disparities and poverty. They voted against the Floridians’ well-being at least 70% of the time.

Housing Justice

• HB 1365 Criminalizing Homelessness Will make sleeping and camping illegal for unhoused people (Oppose)(Passed, signed by Governor)

Reproductive Justice

• HB 651/SB 476 Abuser Empowerment Bill (Committee Votes)  Would give a fetus victim’s rights and allow family members to sue abortion providers.(Oppose) (Died in Committee)

Climate Justice

• SB 480 Fossil Fuel Reinvestment Would spend taxpayer dollars on “renewable” (it’s not cleaner or renewable) natural gas that would pollute the air and water. (Oppose) (Died in House)
• HB 1645 Energy Omnibus Would build more dirty fossil fuel facilities and lead to more utility rates hikes for consumers. (Oppose)

Expanding Democracy

• HB 1035/SB 1522 Harry T. and Harriette V. Moore Voting Rights Act (opportunity to Co-sponsor) Would implement a Florida Voting Rights Act, increase access to vote by mail, remove restrictions on voter registration, allow returning citizens to verify voting eligibility, and make registration easy. (Support) (Died without a hearing)
• HJR 335 (Committee Votes) Increases percentage of votes needed to pass a ballot initiative (Oppose) (Died in committee)
