Remembering the Victims of the Pulse Massacre 

FLORIDA – Florida Rising, one of the largest independent political organizations in Florida, stands in solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community in celebrating Pride month. The organization also remembers and pays tribute to the angels whose lives were taken during the Pulse Nightclub massacre in Orlando. Florida Rising’s Chief Operating Officer Chevalier Lovett issued the following statement in recognition of Pride month and the sixth anniversary of the Pulse tragedy:

“Florida Rising has been intentional and strategic in putting folks who identify as LGBTQ+ at the forefront of our mission and to ensure that we are able to truly live as our true and authentic selves. We are fired up and resilient in continuing the fight for equitable rights and are hopeful that Florida will one day be a beacon of light and a place of safety for all marginalized communities, despite the harsh bills that were recently passed and signed into law by Governor Ron DeSantis.

June 12th also commemorates the anniversary of the angels whose lives were taken at Pulse Nightclub in 2016, several of whom were personal friends of mine. May we never forget The Divine 49 and the joy they contributed to this world. To uplift the PRIDE in our mission, Florida Rising will be hosting statewide events throughout the month of June, where We Say Gay on Every Block! Join us at the Miami Pride Parade on June 10th, Wilton Manors’ Pride Parade on June 18th, and on June 26th in St. Pete for their signature Pride Parade. Florida’s PRIDE is rising. Together We PRIDE!”
